About the Role

To operate, maintain, and optimize the block making machine in compliance with production targets, quality standards, and workplace safety practices


Duties and Responsibilities

Production

  • Operate the block making machine efficiently to meet daily production targets.

  • Prepare and load the correct mix of raw materials (cement, sand, aggregates) into the machine.

  • Monitor machine parameters and block quality during production, making real-time adjustments as needed.

  • Conduct visual inspections of finished products for consistency and conformance to specifications.


5S (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain)

  • Maintain a clean and organized work area around the block making machine.

  • Implement daily housekeeping practices in line with 5S standards.

  • Ensure tools, materials, and equipment are stored and handled properly.


Autonomous Maintenance (AM) and Preventive Maintenance (PM)

  • Perform basic machine cleaning, lubrication, and minor repairs (Autonomous Maintenance).

  • Assist the maintenance team with scheduled Preventive Maintenance tasks.

  • Proactively report unusual machine behavior or breakdowns to the supervisor.


Collaboration and Support

  • Work closely with the production team, maintenance crew, and quality assurance personnel.

  • Provide support to material handlers, stacking teams, and forklift operators where needed.

  • Participate actively in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and improvement initiatives.


Documentation

  • Record production data such as quantities produced, machine settings, and material usage.

  • Fill out checklists and reports related to daily machine inspections and maintenance activities.

  • Document any deviations, downtime events, and corrective actions taken.

Qualifications

Key skills

  • KCSE Certificate or equivalent.

  • 1–2 years’ experience operating a block making machine or similar industrial equipment.

  • Basic knowledge of mechanical systems and concrete material properties.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Machine operation and troubleshooting.

  • Strong attention to quality and detail.

  • Familiarity with 5S workplace organization.

  • Basic maintenance (AM/PM) skills.

  • Good communication and teamwork skills.

  • Physical stamina and the ability to work in an industrial environment and experience required.
